PART 1: China's National Interests

NOTE: When looking at other groups' work, leave a comment or question for them in the 'Discussion' section of the wiki page they have completed.

TASK:

In groups of 3 you will be assigned one of China's four key national interests. You are to define what the national interest is and then collect evidence to show that this is an important national interest to Beijing. Evidence can come in the forms of newspaper articles, quotes, official government statements etc.You should have at least 6 pieces of evidence each with an explanation of why you have chosen it. Put all of your explanations, summaries, and evidence on the wiki page that has been set up. Be prepared to explain your page with the rest of the class.

DUE:

Be ready to share your page at the start of Tuesday's class.

Part 2: Achieving National Interests

TASK:

In groups of 3, you will be research one of the policy instruments that China uses to achieve its national interests. Read the relevant textbook pages, and then complete the 'Review and Revise' section at the end. As a group, write an extended response on the wiki page that covers all of the questions in the Review and Revise section
. Your response may include relevant videos and links to other sites. You also need to include a bibliography at the end of your wiki page.

Remember to use topic sentences, explanations, examples and links back to the overall topic. You should each be able to contribute the equivalent to at least 2 paragraphs. Finally make a recording of one of you reading the written piece out and add it to the end of the wiki page for others to listen to as they read your work.

DUE:

Have your page ready to be read and commented on by the end of Thursday's lesson. Your homework for the weekend will be reading each others pages and leaving comments and questions.
